An apostille is an official government certification that authenticates the origin of a public document so it can be recognized in another country. It is required when you need to use a U.S. document — such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, power of attorney, or corporate document — in a foreign country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.
